Jonathan Wear

Jonathan Wear has attended Central for 38 years and enjoys serving in many capacities; elder, security team, sound technician, live stream technician, youth coach, and 242 leader. His life verse is Isaiah 40:31. Jonathan married Shawnda on July 10, 1999. They met through mutual friends in college and he joined choir to make a good impression. They have two children Grant and Emilee; a daughter in law, Lydia; and three dogs Hunter, Pongo, and Lola. Jonathan is the Chief of Police at the Van Buren Police Department and has served his community for 16 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Ashworth College. Shawnda is a clinical mental health therapist and works at Fort Smith Therapy and part-time at The Hamilton Center. Grant is finishing his international business and entrepreneurship degree at the University of Tulsa; his wife Lydia will be pursuing her doctorate degree in physical therapy summer 2024. Emilee is a senior and will be attending John Brown University fall 2024. Jonathan enjoys ham radio, drones, photography, and geeks out with apps to identify planes, boats, ships, and satellites. He likes the outdoors, fishing, kayaking, cycling, and going off-road on Jeep rides.
